Community involvement

We do a number of things which involve the community around us:

Milkshake bar

Youth are welcome to come to 37 Abbey Road after school on Wednesdays during term time, from 3.30 to 5pm. This is for secondary school age only, years 7-13.

We offer a free milkshake, a chance to sit down and play games and have a chat.

With our awning outside 37, there is even more room for young people to stay.

Walk and talk

walkandtalk

A chance to get together about once a month on a Saturday for a walk and chat.

The walk frequently involves a stop-over for a cup of coffee

New Life Tours
New life tours

As we were planning our church calendar, we wondered what it would be like if, instead of meeting in a building every a Sunday morning we went out once in a while.  So we tried organising a coach trip to somewhere within a few hours drive. And we decided that it was good!

And now we get out two Sundays a year and invite friends to come with us to the seaside and other interesting places.  There is sometimes a breakfast stop on the way at a local garden centre and usually a competition on the bus as we travel home.

We aim to find somewhere which is reasonably easy to get around so that it is open to all ages and abilities.  And for those with a bit more energy we can also organise a longer walk.

Meet @ Morrisons
Morissons

Set up as joint project with Morrisons and a local GP practice, we meet most Mondays at 1.30pm in the cafe area of Morrisons in Gamston, West Bridgford.

This is a friendship group for anyone and you are welcome to join us for a cup of tea, games, craft and a chat.

Renew 37 is a community space promoting wellbeing.

The space was set up in 2015 in response to an increasing need for a place for people to go rather than being alone and for those struggling with mental and emotional wellbeing.

The idea is simple - it is like a cafe with tables and chairs and drinks on offer (for free).  You can come on your own or with a friend and receive a welcome.  If you want to talk, you can chat with the other people there.  Or you can play board games or take part in one of the activities when they are going on.

We partner with Tiffin, the tea shop next door, so you can get a good meal delivered or you can bring your own food to eat if you want to stop a little longer.

The day is surrounded in prayer which is open to all at 9am and midday and usually before we close at 3pm.

We are usually open from 9am to 3pm Monday to Thursday and put up-to-date information about activities and any changes in opening times (for example around Christmas) on our Renew 37 Facebook page.
